Multiplication Game:
You will need a pack of playing cards. (If you don’t have cards, make 4 sets of number cards 1-12)
Remove the jokers.
The cards each have their number value.
Aces are worth 1
Jacks are worth 11
Queens are worth 12
Kings are worth 20
1. Shuffle the cards and place in a pile in the middle of the table.
2. Player 1 takes the 1st two cards from the pile.
3. They multiply the two numbers together. If they are correct, they get to keep their cards.
4. Each player takes a turn to repeat steps 2 and 3.
The aim of the game is to end up with the most cards.
Extension 1: Change the value of the king to a different number e.g. 100 or 25 or 50
Extension 2: Pick 3 cards each time and multiply all 3 numbers together e.g. an 8, a jack and a 3 would make a calculation of 8 x 11 x 3 = 264. Use jottings to help you if you need to.
