School Travel Plan

The School Travel Plan is a living document which is regularly updated  to encourage safe, sustainable and active travel to and from school with key objectives of:

  • Improving safety on the journey to school by reducing car use.
  • Reducing congestion around the school.
  • Encouraging Active Travel.
  • Improve health and fitness among the whole school community.
  • Increase Road Safety Education in the school.

Some of the initiatives included in the plan are: 

  • Taking part in Walk to School Week.  Week commencing 18th May 26.
  • Annual Bikeability Course for Year 6.
  • Local walking trips where possible.
  • Supporting the 20mph zone proposal for North and Central St. Albans (the consultation ended for this on 11/01/26).
  • Annual Road Safety Awareness Assembly.
  • Road Safety signs for outside of school to encourage no parking on zig zag lines.
