'Knowing Every Child'

RE

Hello Year 6,

I do hope you enjoyed the half term holidays with your families and managed to have a break from your home learning. Have you watched the videos from your teachers? We were all a little nervous about making them!

It will be lovely to see those of you that can make it to school this week, and hopefully we can see all of you at some point soon.

This week I would like you to follow the link to 'Bitesize' and discover all about the Buddhist festival of 'Wesak'. This is one of the most important festivals in the Buddhist calendar and is usually celebrated in May or June. See if you can find out when it was this year. At the bottom of the page, there is an activity to make a Wesak lantern. Make it as decorative and beautiful as possible. If you have time afterwards, you may like to see if you can devise a vegetarian menu that could be served during the festival or have a go at making some origami birds. The second link will take you to a set of instructions.

Have fun!

Mrs Gilbert
